WHO IS REGGIE?

Reggie's Place, temporary housing for seriously ill adults and children.

In October of 1991, Reginald A. Hicks, Jr. (well known as Baby Reggie), was born with Short Bowl Syndrome, and was considered for a liver transplant at Hermann Hospital, Houston, Texas.

His mother was torn between taking care of two young healthy sons at home, and one chronically ill son in the hospital. She spent the first eight months of Baby Reggie's life in the hospital with him before taking him home.

He was home only three weeks before returning to the hospital where he expired seven months later.

The experience was a tough lesson learned for the young mother. There was not enough help available for individuals coping with seriously ill love ones. Hospitals are a place where the sick can be comfortable, but not a comfortable place for their love ones.

From this personal tragedy the concept of Reggie's Place was born.
